Blending the Artforms

I’m literally obsessed with this video. I think this is about the third blog post I’ve posted it in over the past few years but that doesn’t diminish the brilliance of this piece! I’m proud of being in musical theatre because I can blend acting, music and dance into something entirely new. Visual artist Ryan Woodward teamed up with choreographer Kori Wakamatsu to create a unique dance through illustration.

I think it’s this kind of ingenuity: doing something unique and special, doing it well and putting it out into the world in a way that we are so lucky to be able to do, that is the future of what art can be. Every time I’m feeling frustrated or unsure, I watch this video and remember that everyone has a place in this crazy business and with a little creativity we’ll all find it.

The behind the scenes video for ‘Thought of You’ is pretty cool too! It’s neat to see the process that went into it. It’s also beautiful to watch pregnant women (the choreographer) dance!
